General information about the cooperative programs

  • Model of cooperation

As a student of our cooperative programs you will be enrolled at either the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts or at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe. At the University of Mannheim you only have to register, an additional enrollment is not necessary. You thus benefit from not having to face the official application procedure at the University of Mannheim and only having to pay semester fees at your higher education institution. Your higher education institution will be your first point of contact for all questions and procedures regarding the entire program of study. This will help you avoid spending time on looking for the right point of contact as the higher education institution and the University of Mannheim will clarify any questions amongst each other. At the University of Mannheim, you will be regarded as a guest student. As you are a student of the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts or of the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe you cannot take part in our exchange programs to spend a semester abroad at one of our partner universities. You thus have to organize your stay abroad via your higher education institution or as a free mover. We are happy to advise you on this matter.

  • Registration and re-registration

Prior to the start of the second subject at the University of Mannheim, you have to register in person with the Student Services of the University of Mannheim. The Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts and the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe will inform you on time about the registration period as well as on any further details. You do not have to apply at the University of Mannheim.

You have to re-register at the Student Services of the University of Mannheim prior to the beginning of each semester (additionally to the re-registration at your higher education institution). To do so, please present in person the enrollment certificate of your higher education institution at the Student Services of the University of Mannheim. You should re-register as soon as possible after receiving the enrollment certificate of your higher education institution (usually in January and in July). The re-registration has to be completed no later than the start of the course registration of the respecting semester. The University of Mannheim will not charge you any fees.

  • Recognition of former coursework and examinations

If you have completed coursework and examinations during a previous program of study you can contact your higher education institution and submit a request for recognition. This also applies to credits obtained in your second subject at the University of Mannheim or in other courses that you are taking at the University of Mannheim. You do not have to contact the University of Mannheim yourself. Your higher education institution will contact us directly if there are any questions regarding the recognition. Your higher education institution will also send you the letter of recognition.
