Dr. Miriam Klein is an academic staff member at the chair of Prof. Dr. Teresa Naab. After her master's degree in communication science at JGU Mainz, she completed her doctorate there on news softening of political news in social media at the chair of Prof. Dr. Birgit Stark. As part of that, she also worked as a research assistant in the DFG project “Media Performance and Democracy”, which investigated news quality in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Her research focuses on media quality, particularly regarding news softening and tabloidization as well as media diversity. She also investigates platforms and intermediaries (e.g. search engines, social media) and related alterations in media content (e.g. adaptation to social media logic) and in news consumption/processing.

Miriam Klein will lead the BA seminar “Introduction to Empirical Methodology” and is also responsible for academic advising (BA Media and Communication Studies) and for the approval of courses (outgoings).
