Bogotá, Colombia: Universidad de los Andes

Spotlight: This is the Universidad de los Andes – Gain useful insights, facts, and insider information about our partner university in Bogotá

The Universidad de los Andes (also known as Unidandes) is a private university in Bogotá, Colombia. It was founded in 1948 with the aim of bringing Colombia closer to the latest knowledge in the world, which has not changed to this day. With over 19,000 students, the university is still comparatively small. Their 12 faculties offer a wide range of courses, in particular the literary courses offer deeper insights into Colombia's literary understanding. The extensive university sports program is also popular.
From the very beginning, the Hermanos Sin Fronteras, a student intiviative that – like Visum – supports internationals and is a great way to get in touch with local students, helps with getting used to them and organising them.

Bogotá itself is located at the foot of the Andes and is a very lively city. It is the art and cultural centre of nothern South America and its old town in particular has cultural and historical value: many buildings from the late colonial period are still well preserved.

Of course, tours through the Andes are particularly suitable, but trips to the coast or even to other Sout American countries are also possible during lecture-free periods.

Courses can be taken in English or Spanish; for Spanish at least a B1 level is expected. If courses are taken in English, an English level of at least B2 and a Spanish level of at least A2 must be demonstrated.

The language certificate for Spanish or English can be obtained via Language Certificate. Applications are open for the Philologies, German Studies and the respective teaching courses.

The exchange is open to bachelor students of English/American Studies, German Studies, French Studies, Hispanic Studies and Italian Studies.

The application deadline is 30 April!
