Seminar
- „Mediation and consumption of medieval history today” (PD Dr. Julia Bruch & Emma Miller-Hund)
- Description: This course focuses on several presentation or communication approaches of medieval history in different contexts and how it can be consumed today. These contexts include museums, schools, and popular culture, for example. The goal of this course is for students to learn of, discuss, and present some of these different approaches. Further questions that are discussed in this course are as follows: Which institutions serve as future workplaces for history students and how do they each mediate medieval history? How are the Middle Ages utilised, misused, and distorted in contemporary contexts? Which role can historical research play in the construction of the current view on the Middle Ages? The content is guided by literature. The specific requirements for passing the course will be presented in the first session.
