  • Biography

    Maria-Magdalena Rückert has been Head of Unit at the Landesarchiv Baden-Württemberg, Staatsarchiv Ludwigsburg since 2010. Since October 2012, she has also been an honorary professor at the Chair of Medieval History of the Institute of History at the University of Mannheim.

    Maria Magdalena Rückert studied history, English and Romance languages and literature at the Universities of Bonn and Paris IV from 1979 to 1986. From 1986 to 1990 she was a research assistant at the Chair of Medieval History at the University of Bonn (Rudolf Schieffer), where she received her doctorate. After her archival internship in Marburg and at the Privy State Archives of Prussian Cultural Heritage in Berlin, she went to the State Archives of Baden-Württemberg in 1994. Since 2010, she has been head of department at the Ludwigsburg State Archives. 

    Since 2000, she has held a lectureship in medieval history at the University of Mannheim, where she was appointed honorary professor in 2012.

  • Research interests

    Her research focuses on medieval church history, southwestern German regional history and comparative research on religious orders with an emphasis on women's monasteries, as well as digital diplomatics.
