Second French-German Sustainability Dialogue (5. – 7.10.2023, University of Mannheim, Aula & Katakomben)
The French-German Sustainability Dialogue (Deutsch-Französischer Nachhaltigkeitsdialog) was founded in 2021 by the Deutsch-Französische Hochschule in cooperation with the ASKO Europa Stiftung with the aim of intensifying the scientific and social dialogue on the topic of sustainability between France and Germany and beyond. The second edition took place at the University of Mannheim under the title “Aus der Transparenz der Vergangenheit die Zukunft nachhaltig gestalten – Historische, ökonomische und kulturelle Aspekte”. Its programme was explicitly intended to appeal to students and society, especially interested parties from the Mannheim region. Annette Kehnel and Verena Weller moderated the first of three panels “Geschichte. Wir konnten auch anders – was lernen wir aus der Geschichte?”.

Annette Kehnel's talk on alternative economy should not be missed in the context of the climate readings of the Bundesgartenschau 2023 in Mannheim: In her lecture “Wir konnten auch anders. Eine kurze Geschichte der Nachhaltigkeit”, she will show how sustainable economy worked in the Middle Ages and in the early modern period and will certainly encourage her audience to change. We are looking forward to seeing you!
Since the founding of Scientists for Future-Mannheim in September 2019, interactive short formats, information stands and lectures have been offered regularly, also in cooperation with the Historical Institute. One of the highlights was the workshop “Climate Protection and International Law” in June 2022. Find out about further actions of Scientists for Future-Mannheim and stay up to date!
