Department of Philosophy

Philosophy investigates the great questions facing the human mind: What is truth? What is good? What can we know? How should we act and how do we want to live?

The Department of Philosophy is home to a team of lecturers and researchers who work in the fields of theoretical philosophy and practical philosophy (especially in business ethics and political philosophy) as well as in the history of philosophy.

In the background, a white wallpapered wall with a building-supporting pillar and filled bookshelves to the left and right of it. In the foreground is a dark blue pinboard. Two students are standing in front of it on the left and right, both of whom can be seen from the side or from the diagonal. They are wearing white shirts. The person on the left is attaching a yellow piece of paper to the pinboard. There are a total of 3 large white notes at the top, as well as one light red, 4 yellow, 6 green and 4 light blue medium-sized notes grouped in columns underneath according to their colours. A fifth yellow slip of paper breaks through this scheme and is half hidden by the first white slip of paper on the left, at its height. In addition, small red slips of paper, some labelled with Roman numerals, are scattered across the pinboard, apparently to indicate a further grouping. Only the aforementioned labelling with Roman numerals and the word ‘Ehe’ (marriage) on one of the green slips is clearly legible.
