Prof. Dr. Heidrun Deborah Kämper

Prof. Dr. Heidrun Kämper is an Academic Staff Member at the Department of “Lexical Studies” at the Leibniz Institute for the German Language, where she runs the area of “Language change”.  In addition, she is the equal opportunities officer at the IDS.

After her studies of German Philology and Politology at the University of Hamburg and the Technische Universität Braunschweig (TUBS), Kämper received a doctorate at the TUBS in 1988. In 2005, she habilitated at the University of Mannheim.

Her research interests focus on: 

  • Lexicography / Historical Lexicography 
  • German Language History of the 20th Century/ Historical Semantics
  • Cultural Linguistics
  • History of Discourse/ Discourse linguistics / Discourse lexicology and –lexicography 
  • History of Mentalities
  • History of linguistic change and democracy
