Department of English

The English Department comprises a team of lecturers and researchers who are involved in the fields of English and American literature and cultural studies, English linguistics and multilingualism research as well as practical language training.

In the 2019 ranking by the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE), the English Department at the University of Mannheim received the most top ratings for study quality of all the universities with English departments surveyed in Germany. The Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes “Culture and Business”, the Bachelor's and teaching degree programmes (B.Ed./M.Ed.) as well as the Master's degree programmes “Literature, Media and Culture of Modernity”, “Language and Communication” were analysed.
