ต้อนรับ – Welcome to Mahidol University!

Located in Salaya, Bangkok Metropolitan region, Mahidol University International College (MUIC) is known for its student friendly and responsible approach to mental health. It has also won several awards – such as the Green Office Award 2020 – for its commitment to sustainability. Founded in 1986, MUIC was recognized as an official faculty of Mahidol University ten years later and has now over 4,000 students from all over the world.

Students from Mannheim’s School of Humanities will find exciting courses in the programs Intercultural Studies, Languages, and Media and Communication, especially for the ICS module. The Faculties of Tourism, Applied Arts, Business Administration and Natural Sciences also offer an interesting range of courses.

The City – Bangkok

Salaya is a 20 minute-trip away from Bangkok. As the cultural center of Thailand, Bangkok attracts around 20 million tourists every year and has been the location for films such as “Fack ju Göhte 2” and “Hangover II”. With a population of over eight million people, it is by far the largest city in the country. A special feature of Bangkok are the more than 400 Buddhist temples (also known as wats) distributed throughout the city.

To-dos in Bangkok:

  • The Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaeo) is located in Bangkok's old royal palace. Boasting its golden roofs, it is the city's most important temple.
  • In Lumphini Park, you will find yourself in a remote green world and, with a bit of luck, you can spot monitor lizards by the lake.
  • Whether it is wok, tom yam (soup) or gaeng (curry): You will get your culinary money's worth at one of the city's many food courts or street stalls.
  • The island of Koh Samui offers beautiful beaches as well as waterfalls and opportunities for snorkeling or kayaking. It takes you around an hour's flight from Bangkok to the island.

University and Campus

In addition to an excursion at the beginning and a farewell party at the end of the semester, there are numerous student clubs at Mahidol University that make life on campus exciting: From movie club to bike or car club to Animal Lovers, it's all there. As MUIC is internationally oriented, all courses are offered in English, and you will meet students from all over the world. Although there are no on-campus apartments, the university will be happy to help you find private accommodation close to campus.

Who can apply for this exchange?

The exchange is open to all Bachelor students. Please provide a Language certificate to show knowledge of English at level B2.

The application deadline is 15 October!
