Benvenuti – Welcome to Università degli studi dell'Insubria!

Excellent education, a student-friendly environment, and internationality are at the heart of our Italian partner university – the Università degli studi dell'Insubria. With its 23 Bachelor's and 12 Master's programs, it has attracted nearly 11,000 students from all over the world. The university also stands out for its strong emphasis on international relations, mutual respect, and individual freedom.

The Cities – Como und Varese

The Università degli studi dell'Insubria is located in two beautiful Italian cities in the Lombardy: Como and Varese. These are individually unique and offer a variety of sights of the Italian culture and landscape. Varese is known as 'the garden city' because of its many beautiful villas and gardens, such as Villa e Collezione Panza or Villa Toeplitz, which make an incredible impression. Varese has almost 81,000 inhabitants and is located directly on the Lago di Varese.

To do's in Varese:

  • Many tourists come to the city every year to see the Palazzo e Giardini Estensi, a beautiful castle surrounded by green spaces and the famous fountain.
  • The Sacro Monte Unesco of Varese is a very well-known ancient religious site, one of Varese's main attractions with its ruin-like features and the unique view over the city of Varese.
  • For those who like sports: the Sacro Monte viewing platform is located on a mountain and is therefore perfect for hiking.
  • The bike path around the Lago di Varese is also well suited for those interested in sports.

Como has just 5,000 more inhabitants than Varese and is located at the lower end of the Italian Prealps on Lake Como. Surrounding the lake are palatial villas, such as Villa Olmo, and a variety of small gardens.

To do's in Como:

  • For anyone who enjoys picturesque settings, the picture-perfect railroad line, Funicolare Como-Brunate, is well worth a visit.
  • Besides the natural spectacle that the city has to offer, the main attraction is the city's cathedral, which catches the eye with its ancient decorations.
  • The metropolis of Milan is only an hour's drive away from both cities.
  • Monte San Giorgio is also very close to Como and Varese (about a 30 minute drive). The mountain offers a great hiking opportunity and at the end of course a beautiful view over the Italian countryside.
