Financial support for internships abroad
To receive financial support for an internship in another European country, you may apply for an Erasmus+ scholarship.
For more information on Erasmus+ please visit the homepage of the International Office of the University of Mannheim and of the Liaison Office for Integrated Traineeships (KOOR – Erasmus Services BW) located at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences.
“Learning Agreement for Traineeship”
In order to receive Erasmus+ funding, you must observe a number of formalities. Students must have parts of their Learning Agreement for Traineeship completed by the School of Humanities.
Model agreements/
internship agreements for foreign employers Employers in France and Spain often ask for an internship agreement (convention de stage). Templates for these agreements are available in English, German, Spanish, and French. Please contact us if your employer requires such an agreement.
Visa formalities for work stays in the USA
To do an internship in the USA you need a J1 nonimmigrant visa from the American Embassy. To obtain this, you must apply for document no. DS 2019, which can be obtained from agencies such as the German American Chambers of Commerce. Please note that you may have to pay a fee for the application.
