Bienvenue – Welcome to Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne!

The Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA) is a very modern university in northern France. URCA has almost 26,000 students and attracts around 800 international students per year from its 250 partner universities in 38 different countries – so an intercultural experience is guaranteed.

University and Campus

The integration of international students is of high importance to the university and shows its readiness to open up to the world. URCA was officially founded in 1971 and impresses with its unique shell-shaped university buildings. Also the university is ranked as one of the top 50 universities in France. 

The language of instruction is French; however, there are also courses offered in English. The university provides several dormitories as accommodations for students, but most students live privately in the city. To apply for dorm housing, all you have to do is fill out an online form three months prior to arrival. For the sports lovers among you, the University of Reims offers a wide range of sports with over 40 new and traditional activities, indoor or outdoor, and many sports teams.

The City – Reims

The university is located in Reims, a city of 200,000 inhabitants. For all those wine lovers among you, there is the famous Route Touristique du Champagne, where one is surrounded by vines. For example, one can make a day trip to Moët or Chandon for wine tasting. Besides the rural part of the town, there are also many urban attractions such as like the architectural building Palais du Tau or the Reims Cathedral. Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral is the flagship of the city. It is the most architecturally important church in France since for centuries, France's monarchs were crowned here.

Who should apply for this exchange program?

The application is open to all Romance Studies students (incl. SpraKo and LiMeKu) of the School of Humanities. Proof of language proficiency is possible with the Mannheim Language Certificate.

The application deadline is 31 January (or 30 September for Ba-4 Romance Studies)!
