Habilitation

The habilitation is the recognition of a person’s special aptitude for independent research and teaching in a scientific subject or discipline. On the basis of their successful habilitation, researchers are granted a teaching authorization for a specific scientific subject or discipline. Habilitated persons are entitled to bear the academic title of Privatdozent (senior academic staff member) provided that they hold courses of at least two semester hours per week in their discipline.
