Graduate School

of the School of Humanities at the Research and Study Centre

The Graduate School of the School of Humanities offers doctoral students the opportunity to join the Research and Study Centre (RSC). You can attend courses in teaching, research, and fields of practical relevance specially designed for doctoral students. In addition to your doctoral degree you will receive a certificate of the Graduate School at the Research and Study Centre of the School of Humanities if you have attended selected courses. This interdisciplinary doctoral program (“Interdisciplinary Track”) will allow you to acquire qualifications that go far beyond the scope of individual doctoral studies.


Services for members of the Graduate School include

  • upon request, additional professional and interdisciplinary supervision of your research work as well as advising within the framework of supervisor groups,
  • additional events for both your subject-specific and interdisciplinary qualification for the acquisition of key qualifications relevant for research and teaching,
  • the opportunity of regular professional exchange and networking at all levels,
  • upon request, financial support for the participation in/organization of conferences and lectures; research journeys and trips to visit archives; further education options,
  • assistance with the application for funding (completion funding, printing cost subsidies),
  • organizational and structural support in the planning and organization of conferences within the framework of the RSC, and
  • certification of successful attendance.

Members of the Graduate School are also provided with

  • RSC e-mail addresses for each member (nameofthemember@rsc.uni-mannheim.de),
  • coworking spaces, including desk sharing and the opportunity for group work (offer depends on room capacities)
  • IT support (for conferences or similar),
  • individual advising and support in organizing conferences, applications, etc., and
  • university or external mentors who will advise them on career planning, work organization or research profiling, if required.
