Finding the Right Contact Person
Since the programs at the School of Humanities are interdisciplinary in nature, you often study in different departments. As a result, you have to discuss the recognition of the courses you would like to take abroad with different people. In general, courses that are clearly part of your core subject need to be discussed with the relevant contact person of your department. Interdisciplinary courses (IKW, ICS, mobility module) need to be recognized on School level by the staff of the Dean's Office.
Courses in your major (BA, BAKuWi, MA, MAKuWi) or one of your subjects (B.ed., M.ed.)
Please discuss the recognition of courses in one of your subjects (M.A./M.Ed. programs and B.A./B.Ed. programs) or in your major (Culture and Economy) with the respective departmental area representative for recognition requests:

Courses in Master Electives
Courses in the elective module (MA Digital Communication), in the module Disciplinary Extension “Disziplinäre Erweiterung” (MA History) and the supplementary area “Ergänzungbereich” (MA Culture and Economy: Philosophy) are only suitable to a limited extent for taking abroad. There are two reasons for this: First, at the partner university you are usually nominated within the School of Humanities or equivalent departments/
schools and will primarily or exclusively have access to courses offered by your school/ department. Second, credit transfer to Mannheim has to be arranged through the corresponding Mannheim School. Please get in touch with your program management beforehand. Module/ Subject Contact Person Interaction and Text Programme Manager Master Sociological Theory

Courses in the combination major (B.A. Culture and Economy and M.A. Culture and Economy)
Courses in your combination major (apart from Business Ethics) are often less suitable for being studied abroad. There are two reasons for this: First, at the partner university, you will usually be nominated at the local school of humanities and therefore have access mainly or exclusively to courses offered as part of the programs of that school. Secondly, in Mannheim, agreements on the recognition of courses are, in this case, not made with the School of Humanities, where you are enrolled, but with the competent contact persons at the Business School and/
or the Department of Economics. Therefore, our programs are structured so as to ensure that the courses in the combination major can also be taken in the semesters before or after your stay abroad. Should you still consider taking courses in your combination major abroad, please contact your program manager first (especially important for MAKuWi-students!). In order to coordinate the recognition of specific courses in Business , please enter all relevant information in the course agreement form for BAKuWi students or MAKuWi students. Please send the completed form to the international managers of the Dean's Office of the Businsess School: learning.agreements.business@uni-mannheim.de. You then enter these courses in the internal learning agreement of the School of Humanities, which the international team (BAKuWi) or program management (MAKuWi) here will sign. To coordinate courses in economics, please contact the international coordinator of the Department of Economics.
