Chinese University of Hong Kong

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) was established in 1963 and is located in the mountainous landscape of the New Territories offering breathtaking views from every building. The campus hosts swimming pools, tennis courts, running tracks, parks with lakes, 35 canteens and restaurant and much more, which guarantees all 20,000 students an enjoyable time.

I spent one semester in fall 2017 in Hong Kong and enjoyed every day of my stay. CUHK offers a broad variety of classes in English and gives exchange students the opportunity to gain cultural insight through e.g. martial arts and Chinese cooking classes. To further support intercultural relations, CUHK encourages living with a Cantonese roommate, which turned out to be an enriching experience.

Off campus, Hong Kong is a great city to go hiking since it provides great views over the seemingly endless city and the scattered islands in the South China Sea. On the other side, the vibrant city creates an inspiring contrast between Chinese and Western culture, and has more to offer than can possibly be explored within only one semester.
