Pace University, New York

I spent the fall term 2019 at Pace in New York City. There was a broad range of courses and I decided on Critical Writing and Literatures of Diversity for my English studies. Furthermore, I was very interested in other disciplines, so I chose Introduction to Psychology and Public Speaking, which is a course designed especially for the students at Pace University. There are many student societies and activities to choose from, I was on the mock-trial team and sang in an a-cappella choir called Tonal Recall. Pace offers the opportunity to join a student gym and there are yoga classes, movie nights and parties all over Campus, especially in the student dormitories.

New York is a big and beautiful city with so many options to explore. The subway will take you uptown in less than half an hour and you can walk to Brooklyn in the same amount of time. The five boroughs are all worth a trip, even Queens and the Bronx have their nice parts. New Jersey, Staten Island and Long Island are only a short trip away and smaller east coast cities such as Boston or Philadelphia can be reached easily by bus. There is so much to do in New York, you can go to a pub or club in the meat-packing district, see a musical on Broadway, go to an art museum for free or simply go for an afternoon stroll in Central Park. Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center and all the other tourist sights are definitely worth a trip as well and the possibilities are endless. You can have a boozy brunch, see a Yankees game, go to a concert and an after-party all in one day. I encourage everyone to at least take a trip to the city that never sleeps or if you can, definitely apply for a semester abroad at Pace University!
