University of Oslo

The University of Oslo is Norway’s oldest university and is located in the West End of Oslo. The university’s suburban campus, Blindern, provides an ideal study environment for its approximately 28,000 students. The heart of Oslo as well as the surrounding forests and hills are easily accessible by public transport.

I spent my semester abroad at the University of Oslo in autumn 2019 and had a wonderful time that I would not want to miss. Students can choose from a wide range of courses; I took classes for my area studies and intercultural studies modules and I had the chance to learn some Norwegian. The university provides a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the campus is beautiful with lots of green areas.

Oslo is a lively, modern and green city. The city is located at the Oslo Fjord and surrounded by mountains, forests and lakes, which are easily accessible by metro. One must-do when in Oslo is the hike to Vettakollen, which provides a breathtaking view over the Oslo Fjord. The many islands off Oslo are great destinations for day trips in summer. If you enjoy exploring small shops and cafés, you will love areas like Grünerløkka or Aker Brygge. Oslo offers a great balance between city life and nature and there is something to do for everyone.
