University of Massachusetts Boston

UMass Boston, Boston’s only public university, is located on the Columbia Point peninsula. The university’s scenic waterfront campus provides an ideal educational and recreational environment for its more than 16.000 students. With over 200 study programs and students from 114 countries, the university offers a multifaceted international experience within the surroundings of one of the most famous university towns in the world.

I spent the spring term 2018 at UMass Boston and had a wonderful time with new friends and enriching academic input. I was enrolled in the graduate program “Applied Linguistics”, but also took classes in psychology and business administration for my area studies and linguistics modules. Recreational activities at UMass are diverse; canoeing in summer, the German club or the cheerleading team are just some examples. Living in the small waterfront community Harbor Point enabled me to not only enjoy a breathtaking view but to also profit from relaxing walks along the “Boston Harborwalk” to university.

Boston is a vibrant university town with a rich cultural heritage and some of the most famous academic institutions in the world. From taking a student-led tour on the Harvard campus, to discovering historical sights along the Freedom Trail or eating a traditional lobster roll at Quincy Market – there is something to do for everyone. New York or Washington are easy to reach by bus and the picturesque coastline of Maine is just a short drive away.
