WEMPO
Western Myths in Popular Culture (WeMPo) ist der Forschungsschwerpunkt und das Fachgebiet von Stefanie Schäfer. Als Marie Skłodowksa Curie Stipendiatin arbeitete sie an dem Projekt Transatlantic Cowgirl Mobilities (TACOMOLINK) an der Universität Wien.

Ihre Forschung der letzten zehn Jahre umfasst die transnationalen und transatlanitschen Dimensionen des Nordamerikanischen Western-Mythos in den USA, Kanada und Deutschland vom 19. bis zum 21. Jahrhundert. Sie publizierte zu verschiedensten Medien, vom Westernfilm über die deutsche Krimiserie Tatort bis hin zu kreativer Nonfiction, Gedichten und Rodeokulturen. Die Methodologie von WeMPo stützt sich auf Siedlerkolonialismus- und ökokritische Kritik und integriert indigene Wissensproduktion und dekoloniales Denken.
